Dr. Yadong Qi is a distinguished professor of environmental science and ecology, currently leading the master’s degree program in the Department of Urban Forestry, Environment, and Natural Resources at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. With over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and service, Dr. Qi has been instrumental in the development of urban forestry programs at SUBR, including the establishment of the nation's first Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Urban Forestry. Her academic journey includes a BS degree in forestry from Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, an MS degree in forestry ecology/hydrology from Northeast Forestry University, and a Ph.D. in forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University, specializing in tree physiology and silviculture. Dr. Qi's expertise encompasses a wide array of topics, including urban forest ecology, tree growth and development, UVB radiation tolerance mechanism in diverse southern tree species, and environmental studies. She has supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate students, chaired numerous thesis and dissertation committees, and led significant research endeavors, resulting in numerous publications and presentations.
