Senior Research Engineer

John is a Senior Research Engineer at the Swagelok Center for Surface Analysis of Materials (SCSAM) located in Case Western Reserve University. He received his B.Sc. Honors (2000) and Ph.D. (2006) in Chemistry at The University of British Columbia. His work focuses on utilizing surface analysis methods (ToF-SIMS, XPS, Auger) to provide analytical solutions for the academia and the industry. John has experience working in the industry (LG Chem) where he assisted in the development of novel materials applicable to the information technology and Li-ion battery. In addition, his experience entails carrying out failure analysis on such materials. John’s recent research work encompasses implementing and utilizing in-situ cryo ToF-SIMS for investigating various plant species.
