Rohit Bhargava serves as the Director of the Cancer Center at Illinois, Grainger Distinguished Chair in Engineering and Professor in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He graduated with a dual-degree B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and received a doctoral degree from Case Western Reserve University. Following postdoctoral studies at the National Institutes of Health, he has been at Illinois as Assistant (2005-2011), Associate (2011-2012) and Full Professor (2012-). Rohit has made research contributions to the field of chemical imaging with key advances in theory, instrumentation, and applications of this technology. Using artificial intelligence techniques with high fidelity imaging data, his work is specially focused on understanding and using the native molecular content of the tumor and its microenvironment for improved cancer pathology. Rohit conceived and continues to serve the Cancer Center at Illinois - a research institute of the University of Illinois at the convergence of science, engineering and oncology.
