Kate is a 4th year PhD student in Materials Science and Engineering at MIT, under the supervision of Prof. Frances Ross. Her research focusses on both in-situ ultra-high vacuum and environmental transmission electron microscopy (UHV-TEM and ETEM) which provide high spatial and temporal resolution to elucidate growth mechanisms, chemical composition, and response to stimuli at the atomic scale. In particular, her PhD focusses on mapping structure and composition at the interface between metals and 2D materials (2D/3D interface).
