Christoph Hofer received his Master in Physics at the University of Vienna in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Jannik Meyer, focussing on isotope labeling in graphene and studying its damage mechanism by the electron beam. He started his PhD in the same group developing a new few-tilt tomographic approach to exploring the 3D structure of graphene defects showing strong deformations. During his PhD, he followed his supervisor to the University of TĂĽbingen in 2018 and finished his PhD there in 2020. Since 2021, he joined Prof. Timothy Pennycook's group at the University of Antwerp using an extremely high temporal resolution camera to perform electron ptychography. Here, he combined his 3D reconstruction algorithm with ptychography to reveal the 3D structure of more complex 2D materials. Apart from this, he also aims to establish electron ptychography for charge transfer measurements, material science in general as well as for biological specimens.
