Alexander Matthew Glenn (Matt) completed his PhD at RMIT University in the city of Melbourne in August of 2003. He began working at CSIRO Manufacturing (then called CSIRO Manufacturing and Infrastructure Technology) at the start of November 2003. At that time he worked as a microscopist in the Materials Characterisation team. In February of 2006, he moved to CSIRO Mineral Resources and began work as a microscopist in the Mineral Resources Microbeam Laboratory, where he still working today (July, 2021). His professional interests include SEM, microanalysis and EBSD. He has also served for many years as the treasurer of the Australian Microbeam Analysis Society and has participated as treasurer on the organising committee of 3 AMAS conferences. He considers it a great privilege to work as a very small cog in a world class team. He is happily married with 3 children and enjoys playing the piano and working with his hands on small scale engineering projects in his shed.
