Arpita Pal Bathija is a drilling research scientist at Aramco Americas working on wellbore stability issues using rock physics on oil-well cement. She is experienced in rock physics, petrophysics, exploration and production earth science, technical geophysics, and laboratory measurements. Previously, she worked as a geoscientist at Chevron in well planning for exploration and production of deep-water offshore wells in Gulf of Mexico and Angola. She did her PhD in Geophysics from Colorado School of Mines on rock physics study of shales and sandstones. She received her M.S. in Geophysics from Stanford University in 2000. She also received her M.S. and B.S. in Exploration Geophysics in 1996 from IIT Kharagpur, India. She served as an editorial board member of the SEG journal “The Leading Edge”. She has served on many committees in SEG and SPE professional societies. She is currently serving in the Board of Directors of GSH.
