-Dr. Arturo Ponce Pedraza’s is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), his research focuses on the understanding of atomic structure and behavior of nanomaterials by utilizing HRSTEM, Cs-STEM, precession electron diffraction, electron holography, and in situ TEM. He is the professional author of 200 publications, including peer-reviewed articles, proceedings, chapter books with more than 6,000 citations. Dr. Ponce was the head of the Laboratory of Electron Microscopy at the Research Center of Applied Chemistry from 2008 to 2011 and Director of the Kleberg Advanced Microscopy Center at UTSA from 2011 to 2013. Currently, he leads the Structure Physics and Electron Microscopy group at UTSA.. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Asociación Mexicana de Microscopía y Microanálisis (AMMM), he is regular member of the Microscopy Society of America (MSA) and the Materials Research Society (MRS). He is editor of Micro-X, the Bulleting of the AMMM. He was inducted as a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences in 2018.
